Washington, Mar 9 - You know what this government takeover of health care really needs? A government takeover of the student loan market.

“Senate Democratic leaders have decided to pair an overhaul of federal student lending with healthcare reform, according to a Democratic official familiar with negotiations.” (The Hill, 3/8/10)

All aboard the Takeover Express! This Democrat-only reconciliation train is barreling ahead at full speed to derail as much private enterprise as possible. What other job-killing, Washington-empowering stowaways might Democrats bring into the station? A resurrection of the Death Tax? The “robust” public option (path to single-payer)? Heck, why not throw in Card Check?

With Pelosi and Reid at the controls of reconciliation, there’s no telling where this train ends.
