What They’re Saying: Support Grows for American Energy Innovation Act
Washington,
May 20 -
Support for energy innovation and job creation has been growing in the days since the Republican Study Committee and the Congressional Western Caucus teamed up to introduce H.R. 2300, the American Energy Innovation Act. This all-you-can-create approach will pave the way for a 21st century energy economy by providing incentives to create renewable fuel options, promoting conservation and efficiency, and encouraging responsible production of American energy. Unlike the Democrats’ job-killing National Energy Tax, the American Energy Innovation Act will create jobs while paving the way for a clean and healthy environment. Here is what leading energy and taxpayer groups are saying:
“At a time when the House is taking up legislation, H.R. 2454, which will impose an energy tax on every consumer, reduce the future supply of domestically produced energy and potentially cause the loss of millions of jobs in energy intensive industries, your bill is a breath of fresh air to millions of American taxpayers who believe government policies should encourage U.S. energy independence and help grow the American economy.” – Larry Hart, Director of Government Relations, American Conservative Union.
“The American Energy Innovation Act enhances U.S. national security in two ways: reducing American dependency on foreign fuel and creating millions of jobs over the next few decades. Some in Congress want to issue new taxes on American energy output, but this Act offers more optimistic solutions that will ignite the best ingenuity using free market approaches.” – Grover Norquist, President, Americans for Tax Reform.
“The Center for North American Energy Security endorses government policies which allow North America’s vast unconventional resources – such as oil sands and oil shale – to be developed with modern technologies producing clean transportation fuels for America’s energy security. The American Energy Innovation Act taps into the creative genius of American ingenuity to encourage new solutions for more efficient use of energy, as well as new technologies to produce more energy from our vast domestic resources.” – Tom Corcoran, Co-Founder and Managing Director, Center for North American Energy Security.
“President Obama proposes to use renewable energy in place of energy derived from fossil fuels, but his plan will involve massive new taxes on American energy and economic output. As a more fiscally sustainable alternative, H.R. 2300 offers policies that facilitate the production of traditional resources, as well as support the rapid development of market-based alternative energy sources and technologies… A combination of efforts will be the most successful path to overcome America’s dynamic energy challenges. This legislation will enhance America’s national security by reducing the nation’s dependency on foreign oil and creating millions of new long-term jobs.” – Thomas Schatz, President, Council for Citizens Against Government Waste.
“We need more traditional forms of energy, as well as nuclear, solar, wind and any other viable source in order to help us emerge from our challenging economic position. Renewable technologies should be encourage but should also have to compete in the marketplace of ideas in order to prove their value… We also commend you for advancing an energy bill without hidden tax hikes.” – Tim Phillips, President, Americans for Prosperity.
