RSC Offers Responsible Budget Solution: Less Debt, Less Government, More Freedom
RSC Rejects President’s Record-Setting Tax-and-Spend Agenda
Washington,
Apr 2 -
Republican Study Committee Chairman Tom Price (R-GA) issued the following statement after the RSC introduced a responsible, solutions-based budget proposal that counters President Obama’s radical, big-government agenda. The RSC proposal provides for a balanced budget that reduces national debt by more than $6 trillion compared to the President’s plan. It also provides $1.2 trillion in tax relief, ends bailouts, reduces non-defense discretionary spending each year, and takes an honest look at the biggest challenge to our financial stability: health entitlements. A full summary can be found here.
“Once again, the Republican Study Committee has provided a clear choice between our positive solutions for the country’s future and President Obama’s radical spending spree,” said Chairman Price. “The differences between our budget and the President’s are clear. Our plan offers less bureaucracy, lower taxes, and sustainable economic growth. The President only offers more of the unchecked debt that is plaguing our financial solvency.
“The budgetary challenges facing our nation are enormous. Leadership is about making tough choices today, not leaving them for future generations. While the President willfully ignores our entitlement crisis, the RSC plan says we can no longer delay reform of the health entitlements that will bankrupt our nation and leave our seniors without health care choices. It is irresponsible to continue sweeping this problem under the rug each year.
“After President Obama disingenuously accused Republicans of failing to provide an alternate proposal, we have now laid out a responsible plan that stands in stark contrast to his own. By balancing the budget, providing proven tax relief, and cutting unnecessary costs, we can shrink the deficit and restore the economic freedoms that have been stripped away by the Democrats’ ongoing spending addiction. With a firm commitment to fiscal responsibility by all sides, we can work together to pass a budget that puts aside political agendas and works on behalf of American taxpayers.”
