Rep. Burgess Seeks Cosponsors to Permit the District of Columbia to Use Funds to Enroll Students into the DC School Choice Incentive Act of 2003 Program

Washington, Dec 16 -

Dr. Burgess has introduced a bill to allow students to enroll into the DC School Choice Incentive Act of 2003, i.e. the "DC School Vouchers" program.  Along with original cosponsors Leader Boehner, Mr. Kline, Mr. Frelinghuysen and Mr. Issa, H.R. 4312 will strike the language in the FY 2010 District of Columbia Appropriations Act which prevents any more students from being enrolledCurrently, the program enrolls over 1,700 students in a program whose efficacy is without doubt, with both parents and children saying it is working.  President Obama chose not to allow any more students into this program, and this bill would correct that oversight.
