Hensarling: “Now is the Time for More American Energy”
RSC Chairman Slams Sham Democrat Energy Bill
Washington, Sep 9 -
Congressman Jeb Hensarling (R-TX), Chairman of the House Republican Study Committee, today issued the following statement after Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats returned to Washington unwilling to address America’s high gas prices and America’s reliance on foreign energy problem: “After a month long vacation during which the Speaker and House Democrats continued to ignore the pain that Americans are feeling at the pump, it’s about time that they got back to work. Sadly, while Democrats have returned to Washington, they continue to push another sham energy bill that fails to develop more American energy. “Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats love to preach that drilling will not solve all of America's energy problems – as if we didn't know that. Though drilling alone obviously won’t solve every problem, it will start to increase our domestic energy supply – which solves a big problem. Drilling is one part of the comprehensive, common sense energy plan that Republicans have been fighting for. “For months, we’ve made clear that we need conservation, but not just conservation. We need renewable energy, but not just renewable. We need alternatives, but not just alternatives. We need to produce more energy of all types in America so we can drive down the cost of gas and increase our energy independence. Finally, we need more American energy, developed in America by American workers, and made available to American families. “The Speaker has wed herself to the ideology of the radical left, leaving House Democrats with little but empty rhetoric – and the American people know it. Empty rhetoric cannot – and will not – stand in the way of the wishes of the American people.”
